PCPA secures a reversal of MBS Telehealth cuts to phone consults
Date: 16th January 2021
Dear Members,
We are very pleased to inform you that after a very short but intense campaign of media and advocacy over Christmas, the PCPA was able to secure a reversal of the sudden cuts to Telehealth phone consults (item number 91835).
The item will be re-instated on Tuesday January 18 and backdated to January 01, 2022. There was a further addition of MBS rebates for specialist phone consults with in-patients. We will share the full list of MBS changes when it is available.
We will continue to advocate for the re-instatement of the 50% MBS loading for video consultations with regional and rural patients (MBS item 112).
We will prepare a short letter that you should provide to your patients, impacted by this removal, so they too can become active advocates with their own local MP.
