Benefits of Membership

PCPA is the peak body for private practice cancer specialists – medical oncologists, haematologists and radiation oncologists – recognised by government, payers and patient groups.

Advocacy and policy influence

As a member you are part of a unified voice that has:
  • Pushed for better HTA processes, faster access to innovative therapies, and protections for the role of private oncology in the national cancer plan.
  • Led key MBS reforms (including chemotherapy item changes and extension to subcutaneous treatments).
  • Advocated successfully for telehealth continuity during COVID and ring fencing cancer patients in SPA reforms.

Your membership fee directly underpins this advocacy – without a strong membership base, our influence and ability to respond quickly to policy changes is weakened.

Education and professional growth focused on private practice

Access to education designed specifically for private cancer clinicians, including:

  • The annual Cancer Summit with a strong focus on real world private practice.
  • Precision oncology workshops and genomics “back to basics” sessions.
  • Weekly virtual molecular tumour boards that many private clinicians would not otherwise have access to.

Members only resources such as:

  • The Roadmap to Success for setting up in private practice.
  • Billing and chemotherapy handbooks tailored to private oncology.
  • Updates on critical changes (e.g. MBS, PBS, HTA reforms) and what they mean for your patients and your practice.

CPD support built for cancer clinicians

  • Access to a CPD platform designed for cancer specialists (cpd4medprofessional), aligned with College requirements.
  • A concierge service to help you complete your CPD obligations efficiently, aiming to reduce the administrative burden to less than an hour of your time.

Community, networking and mentorship

  • A national network of private oncologists, haematologists and radiation oncologists at all career stages.

Opportunities to:

  • Join masterclasses, webinars and case based discussions.
  • Access structured mentorship and support in transitioning to or growing in private practice.
  • Connect with leaders and peers at PCPA events and via digital platforms.

Operational and practice benefits

PCPA works to improve the financial and operational sustainability of private cancer practice, including:

  • Advocacy for better Medicare indexation, funding models and reduced out of pocket costs for patients.
  • Strategic alliances that open opportunities to participate in research, innovation and new models of care.
  • Membership gives you a seat at the table in these discussions, and the ability to shape the future of private cancer care rather than having it decided for you.
